cookie meets cake

Cookie meets cake.
How we got started:
It all started with a green horse about 40 years ago. I was asked to draw a horse in art class and it ended up being green. It was all fine with my mom but the teacher had no eye for creative license and she gave me an "F".  And that's where an art passion began......along with a rebel spirit.
As the years went by my aunt, who was a high school counselor, had talked to me about going to art school after I had graduated. I just didn't see how I was going to make any money with art and my practical side won out. So I went to college to be a drafter.
After college, marriage and family happened. And I had two girls. As a stay at home mom I was always looking for ways to make some extra money. I owned a successful business for 25 years and usually had something to do with art. I tole-painted, scrapbooked, and redeveloped my passion for drawing and painting.
As Ashley,my youngest, grew older she dabbled in cake decorating and baking and eventually went to culinary school.  And one day she came home with the idea to open a bakery. So we started working on cakes together and meshing my art with her baked goods. And that was when CarseyCakes.com  was born.
We recently attended our local cookie-con and took a class on copyright laws. I learned how restrictive it can be to use characters and art from copyrighted companies. And I had the idea to use my art to help other people out when making edibles. So it won't be so difficult and cumbersome to get cute art into your own projects. And that's how cookie meets cake came to be.
